My Journey Into Crazy Yoga

I hit a wall. It was a cycle of work, stress, and to-do lists in my life. The old-fashioned gyms were an obligatory and solemn feeling, and yoga classes when there was no speaking and no one laughing only made me more conscious of the sounds in my head. After that, I found out about one thing that changed it all crazy yoga.
It was not in one of its luxurious retreats, or in a costly studio. It began in my living room where I allowed myself to be movable without any rules. This is how the release of the ideal practice helped me to revert to life.
What Exactly Is Crazy Yoga?
When you are imagining the images of people standing on their heads on the mountains, it is not that. Crazy yoga is not about much physical prowess. For me, it’s a mindset. It is the liberty to mix conventional yoga postures with the spontaneous and joyful movement. It is shouting when I slip out of a posture. It is playing my favourite music and letting my body take charge, even to the point of a ridiculous dance pose between Downward Dogs.
It is yoga where it is all about the way you feel, not the way you appear.
The basis of this practice is on a few basic concepts:
Authenticity versus Accuracy: You want to relate to the actual needs of your body not necessarily to matching your feet.
Joy as a Compass: When a movement is good and leaves you happy, then you include it in your practice.
Release of Judgment: It has to do with shutting down the internal critic that tells you that you are not flexible enough or strong enough.
The Unbelievable Benefits I Had.
The benefits of getting to the mat went way beyond the physical when I began trying to become a happy human rather than a good yogi.
My Perceptual Clarity Skyrocketed.
All that mental chatter? It vanished. My mind was not able to think of its usual concerns because I was simply concentrating on fun and freedom. This became a flowing meditation, clearing anxiety and creating a vehement feeling of ease.
I Lost My Creativity.
Adherence to the strict order may kill creativity. Crazy yoga unlocked mine. Through experimentation with new flows, and listening to the impulses of my body I accessed a flow of creativity, which leaked over into my work and my everyday life. Problem-solving became a new, fresh, and vibrant energy.
My Body Felt Truly Liberated
Although I was getting stronger and more flexible, the largest physical achievement was the sense of freedom. My body ceased to be a means to an end but an infinite source of expression and discovery. The rigidity with which I was walking on stress faded.
How to open your own practice.
You do not even require any special mat or costly leggings. Your only requirement is courage and a desire to be a flawed individual.
Make Your Safe Place: Find a location where you will not be disturbed or condemned. Your living room is perfect.
Getting a Killer Playlist: Select some songs that have you ready to dance– be it 80s rock or electronic, or show tunes.
Start with a Simple Intention: Warm-up with some simple poses you are familiar with, such as Cat-Cow or a nice Forward Fold.
Follow the Music: Now, there comes the mad yoga part. The rhythm will tell you what follows as you move. Shake your hips, give it a shimmy, or go slowly and dramatically with a wave of your arm. When you feel like you are stuck, just march and shake it out!
My Go-To Crazy Yoga Flow
The following are the steps I follow in order to have a quick reset:
Sun Salutation to Dance Break: One slow and traditional Sun Salutation. On the second one, in rising to stand, put your hands in the air, and shake it a two-second dance.
Sway to Warrior II: Have a good Warrior II posture. Then, rather than just standing in one position, swing your torso forward and back slightly and experience the difference in the stretch.
Floor Freestyle: You are lying on your back. Rather than sitting stationary on Savasana, move your fingers and toes well, roll your head gently side to side and occupy as much space as you desire.
