England World Cup equipment theft

The England national football team has encountered an unexpected setback ahead of the 2026 World Cup, with key training equipment reportedly stolen before their arrival in Kansas City.
According to local authorities, a vehicle transporting the team’s gear from Florida—where England had been preparing for the tournament—was broken into upon reaching Kansas City. The incident occurred shortly before the squad was scheduled to begin training sessions on Saturday.
Police confirmed that an investigation is currently underway. “We are looking into a possible theft involving a team vehicle that arrived in Kansas City with missing items,” officials stated. “Two individuals have been taken into custody as persons of interest while inquiries continue.”
Reports from British media suggest that essential items such as footballs and cleats were among the stolen equipment. The English Football Association has declined to comment further, stating that the matter is being handled by law enforcement.
Despite the disruption, England remains focused on their upcoming fixtures. Considered one of the tournament favorites, they will kick off their World Cup campaign against Croatia on June 17 in Dallas. The team will then face Ghana on June 23 in Boston, followed by Panama on June 27 in New York/New Jersey.
England, famously known as the Three Lions, last lifted the World Cup trophy in 1966 and will be aiming to end their long wait for another title in this year’s tournament.
