Jhon Arias Colombia World Cup Goal

Colombia added another goal to their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign as Jhon Arias found the net in their Round of 32 match against Ghana.
The breakthrough came in the 14th minute on Friday, July 3, at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, putting Colombia ahead 1-0. The early strike marked the team’s fifth goal of the tournament so far and set the tone for a crucial knockout encounter.
Colombia is aiming to reach the Round of 16 for the fourth time in its history. In their previous World Cup appearances in 2014 and 2018, Los Cafeteros advanced past the group stage on both occasions, with their 2014 campaign extending all the way to the quarterfinals.
This edition of the World Cup introduces a new format, with 48 teams competing. As a result, teams must now win an additional knockout match to secure a place in the Round of 16, unlike previous tournaments where that stage marked the beginning of knockout play.
Colombia entered this match after finishing top of Group K, recording victories over Uzbekistan and DR Congo, along with a goalless draw against Portugal. A win against Ghana would see them progress to the Round of 16, where they are set to face Switzerland.
